About the studio

Alex Gadsby Garden Design is a garden and landscape design studio based in Derbyshire, UK. I design gardens and outdoor spaces for private clients, groups and commercial organisations across central and western England.

I love connecting people with the magic and beauty of the natural world with sensitively designed outdoor spaces.

I believe gardens and landscapes should be joyful, inviting and restorative. I design gardens that belong where they are, give you respite from a frenetic world, and bring delight and wonder to everyone who enjoys them.

I’m passionate about sustainable design that benefits wildlife and encourages biodiversity. I work closely with suppliers and contractors minimise the impact of my designs on the natural world.

About Alex

I was born into a family of keen gardeners, craftspeople and nature lovers on the edge of the Peak District in Derbyshire.

Weekends spent drawing, wandering the hills or messing about in the garden cemented a lifelong love of making and being outside.

I created services, events and digital products for charities and the public sector before returning to my naturally-inspired creative roots and retraining in garden design.

I earned a professional diploma in garden design from the Cotswold Gardening School, graduating with distinction. I also hold RHS Level 2 certificate in Practical Horticulture.
